I compiled this information during my short visit to Ghent on 12th January 2012. I cannot guarantee total accuracy but at time of writing I believe it is the most up to date and comprehensive record of the red light district you will find (in any language).
Ghent has to be one of the most scenic cities in Europe. It's full of medieval architecture including a cluster of the most spectacular churches.
A short way South of these churches and still very much in the city centre is the small red light district consisting of nearly 100 red light windows. Belgradostraat runs South West - North East between Brabantdam and Kiezer Karelstraat and has 29 windows. Typical of Belgium many have names and you will see Salon de Cupido, Venus, Medi, Topas, Eden, Amber, L'Etoile, Orisis and Weisse Rose. A little further South are Pieter Vanderdoncktdoorgang including Glazen Straatje (details lower down page) and Schepenenvijverstraat. There are another 68 or so windows here including Mignon, L'Orchidee, Au Plaish, L'Amour, La Caresse, Bodega, Venus (another), Betty Boop, La Seduction, Unique, Vogue, Babylon, Le Pink, Crystal (opened in 2010/11) and The Crazy Cabaret which looks like a theatre but there just seems to be three windows in the main door way.
Safety and Advice.
Unlike Brussels red light district Ghent feels totally safe. There really aren't enough windows for it to have taken over or influenced the local area and doesn't have a seedy feel to it at all. Even the most prudish tourists won't be offended and Glazen Straatje is is a must if they are in the city for the historic buildings.
Getting there. Trains run regularly from main Brussels stations to Ghent Sint-Pieters and take no more than 40 minutes. This station is in the south and about 20 mins walk to the red light district and city centre. If you are coming down from the North and changing at Antwerp then you should get off at Dampoort (visible in first map below) which is a little closer and to the North East. Trains between Antwerp and Ghent Dampoort take around 50 mins.
